Florida At Large
Florida. It's so much more than pretty beaches and Disney World. It's actually quite a big place with quite a lot of variety. I've lived here my whole life and I'm still finding new places all of the time. When you get away from the beaches and the big tourist-drawing cities, what is it? It's cold crystal clear springs and orange trees as far as the eye can see. It's reptiles, birds, and plants that most folks can only see in a zoo or botanical garden. It's mangrove forests and cypress swamps that you could get lost in for days and it's a literal river of grass that goes on for miles in every direction. Sometimes it's the most beautiful place on Earth and an hour later it will be the worst thunderstorm you've ever been in. It has a fierce, primordial beauty that is only accentuated by the eccentricity of the people who have called it home.
